The priest´s house

The Priests house, the oldest stone building in Kevelaer, houses the pilgrimage offices. It is also the parish house of St.-Marien.

Therefore, because of the rising numbers of pilgrims the bishop of Roermond in 1645 invited the fathers Oratorians of Scherpenheuvel in Belgium to Kevelaer.

The cloister built opposite the Chapel of Grace in 1647 later became the current name “Priesterhaus”. Today the house is a place for days of devotion and contemplation, for weekend- and instructional courses.
During the main pilgrimage season, the “Priesterhaus” is open for pilgrim groups and especially their spritual guides, who frequently and gladly take advantage of this peaceful lodging.
